THEATRE in MOTION

Theatre in Motion, one of the 1993 recipients of the Mayor's Very Special Arts Award, is an educational theatre company, which features artists with and without disabilities.   Programs are geared to inclusive audiences of all ages, with and without disabilities. Many performances include American Sign Language.

a) New York Toy Stories - Our Newest Addition...see this show featured as a BroadwayOnline.com News Story.

Toys come to life with music and audience involvement, in a tribute to the celebrated "New York Toy Stories" exhibition at The Museum of the City of New York in Manhattan.

b) The Promise of the Park
A musical fantasy in which the co-creator of Central Park, Frederick Law Olmsted, time-travels into the present and is faced with the 21st century concerns for the environment and human rights.
(Gr. 1-9) Also plays quarterly at the Museum of the City of New York for intergenerational audiences, in collaboration with the museum and a Central Park tour by the Central Park Urban Park Rangers. Funded by the Manhattan Community Arts Fund with public funds from the City of New York Department of Cultural Affairs, and The Frances R. Dewing Foundation.


c) Our Choice Now
A participatory drug and alcohol prevention musical revue which focuses on self-esteem, self-respect and decision making.

d) Show Your Smile
Grown-up Red Riding Hood is a practicing dentist with an office next to Granny. In this instructive musical program, she teaches the Wolf to eat a healthy diet and take care of his teeth.

e) DISABLED, EMPOWERED, and PROUD
A musical and dramatic "tapestry" ...a voice of common ground issues of the disability civil rights movement; 75 minutes, one act; for intergenerational audiences.   Funded by THE JM MCDONALD FOUNDATION.
